Interior plate for passenger side mirror?
So my '82 300D that I recently purchased did not have a passenger side mirror. I sure missed that safety feature so I picked one up via eBay. Fits nicely except of course the interior "blank" silver-colored plastic plate won't work, b/c it doesn't have an opening to account for the manual mirror adjustment arm.
Anyone know the name of what this part might be? I've looked in the catalog with no luck. Otherwise, I'm probably off to the junk yard for a hunt. -Chuck

Part number 123 725 08 11
MSRP at your dealer: $21 It's so self-limiting to never consider a dealer. Mercedes are REAL and not junk cars like most others. Parts for 20 yr old models are still available.

Awesome. Where did you find that Kent? When I go into the "buy parts" area for this site, I come up empty when I search for "123 725 08 11".
Thanks so much, Chuck

Passenger side mirror plate
It sounds like what I went through, to the letter!
I figured anything from a junk yard would be as old, so I went to the dealer. Bought mine for appx $15. Remember to install the wire clip in the hole first, then the new cover plate will snap in. |

OK, for now I ended up doing this...
I "eyeballed" where the little angled metal control handle would need an opening, and used a 3/8" drill bit in the existing plastic "blank" that was there in place of the mirror.
For the time being that seems like it would work. I guess I need to find one of those plastic knobs to cover the less-than-ideal little angled rod. Wow, I've got some vinyl shrinkage, eh?

When a junkyard part costs a buck and the dealer is $21 and you can't tell the difference most folks choose the buck part. Now do this with every part in your car and you'll see why people dont consider the dealer very much. Nearly every world pac dealer can get the same parts as the dealer but cheaper... another reason why dealers are not considered. You are right however- because "never" is a long time.
