Anybody have a tool bag inventory for an '82 300D ?

when i bought my car i was fortunate enough to have the original tool bag and at least some of the tools...i've notice on ebay there are a few random or incomplete tool bags from time to time...i'd be happy piecing one together if i could figure out what else i need...

off the top of my head i have three double wrenchs (17mm on one side 15mm on the other and two smaller ones i can't think of right now) a hex thing, a pair of pliers and an old screwdriver that i think someone through in there along the way...

I have the tools from my 82 240, I would assume to be the same kit. The car looks to have been well preserved in the past, unmodified and all there down to the warning triangle. No guarantees its complete but here goes.
1. 17mm Mercedes Benz Heyco tire iron 1205810246
2. 8 & 10mm combo wrench Mercedes Benz Heyco DIN 895
3. 11 & 13mm "
4. 14 & 17mm combo wrench Mercedes Benz Matador DIN895
5. 17 & 19mm "
6. Felo screwdriver handle
7. Felo DBGM double slotted screwdriver blade
8. Felo DBGM double phillips screwdriver blade
9. Hapewe pliers
10. fabric tool sleeve.

Mustang mans list seems to be the same that I've seen except for the fact that I don't remember seeing combination wrenches in their kits. The ones I've seen come with open end wrenches only.

would you believe that NONE of my cars had the complete tool kit, and it's the same tool missing from them all... the lug wrench!

You guys forgot the 79cent bottle opener. My 240 has a kit, I don't recall exactly what is in it right now, but I do remember the bottle opener.:D :D Never know when you might need one. :beerchug:
Mustang's list look pretty close to what I have.

Mine came complete with a P38 can opener, church key and corkenpopper.

Ohh technicalities, lol I meant size combinations on the same wrenches, they are open ended.
I was told today that it was almost a full kit, I'm only shy the tool that threads into a lug bolt hole to hold the tire in place during mounting, and a tool for cranking the sunroof (only my car doesn't have one so its not really missing in mine, lol). I still havent pulled out the spare, and a few things spilled out into the well last night when I pulled the kit out for the pics, my lug tool might still be with me and just be hiding in there under the spare...

Does ANYBODY actually use these?

I was wondering...I equipped my cars with a breaker bar, extension, socket, and torque wrench. At Harbor Freight (well, the socket is from Sears)...it still came out to less than the average tool set on ePay. I do have the original sets, though.

The wheel holder/lug locator pin is useful, though, if you aren't very strong and/or have no help. I'm missing one.

Oh, I just made one out of a 12mm bolt. have grinder will travel!

I bet you can buy those new from mercedes benz for like 100$ though

I dunno though, those "steel" wheels on the w123's...they're so... um, heavy, that the first time I tried to pick one up off the car I just about "dropped" it up into my chin... I better go spend the hundred on one right away...

I have pretty much the same tool kit Mustang man has. It also has some extras that came with it, I'm not sure if they're original or added later on.

I think I've found the stud bolt that holds onto the hub when reinstalling wheels. I haven't taken a pic yet.

I also came across a warning label about the wheel lug bolts being different, it's in English on one side and German on the other. The TE also has this. I found the first label in the junkyard just lying around.

For practical reasons I just bring an extendable lug wrench (like the Gorilla wrench type) that has changeable sockets but of course I just need the 17mm, so it's good to have as a breaker bar too.

I've found the emergency sunroof tool in the junkyard, and even if mine doesn't need it, I just placed it in the right spot below the 17mm white nut to turn the sunroof motor. There's a tab on the plastic cover that pulls down so you can install the tool there.
