Well the engine is sitting on the ground so putting a peice of plywood on the crank isent a option. Last night though I did manage to wedge a peice of metal on the flywheel which jammed it up and then I removed all but one bolt. I will probally finish up today and get it mounted on my engine stand so I can finally start cleaning it because its covered in oil. Is the crank bolt really suppose to be torqued down to 350-400? Do you accomplish that with a air wrench?
Thanks,
Mike

1. you can put a GOOD 6 point socket on the bolts, and hit the wrench with a hammer to loosen them.
2. screwdriver, tire iron, or any similar object wedged against the ring gear is usually sufficient to loosen flywheel bolts.
3. yes 350 to 400 foot pounds with a very large torque wrench. No an air wrench is not sufficient.

Alright, I guess I will have to upgrade my torque wrench in order to achieve that amount of force. Also how much torque should be applied to the flywheel bolts themselves?
Thanks,
Mike

Eek, just looked it up...FSM says 270-330 Nm (so, whassat, around 200-240 ft-lbs, I think).

With the flywheel bolts, they're stretch bolts...torque to 30nm, then another 90 degrees.

conversion factor, so 330 N-M = 243.54 Ft/Lb
