picking up the TD with bad SLS, dolly or trailer?

the motor has been disassembled, so the sls is open, and the rear is VERY LOW. I think a dolly would drag the bumper/etc. I better go with a trailer.
agreed?
that way I have lights in the rear, and brakes on the trailer...
yeah. trailer.
anybody ever towed on a dolly a TD with bad SLS?
John

You would be better off trailering.

Oh, I have a trailer, but a trip to FL towing that sucker, then parking it for a week before the trip home to pick up the car sounds a bit unrealistic. picking up one while down there makes more sense.

I rented one from Penske for a trip from New Orleans to PA, along with a 26' truck. I don't think it added more than $100 to the total. But it had brakes and was easy peasy.

That and the transmission would melt down if you towed it rear wheels on the ground.

Idiot, I am not... of course, I would pull the driveshaft if I used a dolly!

That is good. Some people don't know about the damage that can cause.

Maybe not. That year might have a pump on the tailshaft.
Models that can be push started have such a pump.

When was the pump dropped? I'm pretty sure that my '96 722.4 lacks it.

it does have the tail pump, but it will still fry the tranny if the motor is not turning. back half of tranny spins, pump builds pressure, but TC stays solid, burns out bearings etc.

Re: renting a trailer down there, I know when I picked up my Scout the rental fee was significantly higher for a one-way rental than if I returned it to where I picked it up and that was within a 50 mile radius.

it's over 200.00 to rent a trailer, so, I am spending 160 on my trailer to upgrade the brakes, and taking it down.
I will park it at my aunt's house until I am ready to pick up the car.
thanks for all the suggestions!
