My new baby -- Euro 300D

Just picked up what I hope will be a real fun car to fiddle with. I have been looking for a nice W123 for ages now, and saw this one on eBay. After several email exchanges with the seller, I felt very comfortable dealing with him -- he sent pics of every area I asked about. Very little rust to deal with, and best of all, it's ALL Euro -- lights, bumpers, climate control, trim, even speedo (kph). Dig the SLS (on a sedan) and orthopaedic driver's seat. Original owners, to boot! Now I need to figure out which company to use to get it from NY to IL inexpensively!

Congrats! Sweet looking car.

You don't want to road trip it?

Thanks! I'd consider driving it, but I can't afford to miss any work and/or shell out for roadside emergencies of the disasterous sort should they happen. Compounding that is the fact that the car is on Long Island, and I do NOT want to try driving off the island in a car I don't know well. Can you imagine blocking NY traffic on a LI bridge or in one of the tunnels? Yikes! No thanks. Shipping can be had for $490 or less -- flying out and driving back wouldn't me that much less.

C'mon, the Island is loads of fun!

Certainly legit reasons.

Nice deal. I'd love to see a picture of that drivers seat. Always wondered how orthopedic seats differed from regular ones. If it were me I'd drive it back as well.

Thanks guys. I don't know whether I like the Euro rounds or rectangular better. I have both to choose from, so one set might be for sale before too long!

W-123's lose their character and identity without their round headlights! Round Euro's still capture "the look".
Where-as a W-116 greatly benefits from the rectangular lights, a W-123 loses it's personality with the rectangular jobbers.
Your opinions may vary.......

Thanks for the tip -- looks interesting! So the bid you receive is the all-inclusive fee you pay for the shipping itself? No hidden fees or anything? I listed my needs on that site and will see if I get any competitive bids. Thanks again!

You should get many bids. If interested, you choose which bid you want. No fee for you, only the shipper pays a fee. You don't have to accept any bids. You can cancel everything if you want.

Here's one that I just did. I thought it was excellent.

SLS on a sedan? That's cool.

Looks like it has other unique options too. What is "mechanical and hydraulic sliding roof"? My car has the 411 option too, but it has a manual roof.

Yeah, I don't know why that popped up. It's a manual roof. SLS is indeed interesting, isn't it?

Congrats on the new ride!
I've been looking at W123's as well. I'm just hope that I don't have to deal with a door pillar in the shoulder while driving as I did in my '85 190D.

If you go with the euro circle headlights let me know if you decide to sell the rectangles!!! I definately like the style of them.

I think I'll be using the rectangular Euros -- they have the vacuum pods in them still, while the rounds have had the pods removed. I'd like to hook up the vacuum lines so I can raise/lower the beam if I'd like.

That'll happen in time -- right now I'm chasing down vacuum issues.

Good luck in your search for a nice W123!
