door trim (outside) panel remover 300sd

85 300sd How do you get the little nut off that's on the inside of the door under the rubber gasket? My 1/4" drive sockets are to large in diam to get into the hole. Is there a special tool or does someone make a socket small enough to go in the hole? Thanks, Jim

door trim

Its real easy, just pull back the door seal a little in that area and you'll see there is a hole to access the nut.

I have pulled back the gasket and can see the nut but my 1/4" drive sockets are to large in diam to go thru the hole. What do you use to get the nut off?

Have you tried using a nut driver? they are usually a bit thinner. In worst case you should be able to go to the local auto parts and pick up a cheapie socket or driver for a few bucks, then hit it on the bench grinder a bit until it fits the hole, I can't imagine that being a very high torque nut so grinding a socket should work if you had to.

Yes, probably most of us have a dedicated set of ground-off or ground-down wrenches and sockets for use on these cars. I made a new one just yesterday adjusting a wastegate spring.
