sweet looking rod-bender project on EBAY

This may have already been posted, not sure. looks like it would be a good parts car or resto for someone.

That's might be an excellent buy........depending on what the "limited rust" would be.

350SD.. Ive seen one around my area.. Driver pulled up next to me and said "Nice car.. I have one exactly like it at home" (must have been a snowbird)

I would rather have the SDL... bigger is better!

Wow, indeed and he's done half the work for you. Big problem is you'd need a long block+transmission which is going to up the repair price. Interior looks great to boot.

Too bad there'd be no usable core either...a Metric Motors engine would become prohibitively expensive, though would certainly put a premium on the resale value of this car ($10K+ IMHO)

Wouldn't the simplest solution be to fine a rotted out early 80's 126 and swap the 617 and transmission into that SD? Should be almost a bolt on affair. RT

Certainly not the original, but I have a solid 1984 617 with a rebuild transmission. Hmmmm.......I may need to consider this one.

hmm, I'd be more inclined to stick with a 603. Doesn't really make a difference I guess but the 603 is just a little smoother, quieter and refined than the 617...that said a bit more expensive and comes along with it's own set of problems.

If its in really good shape that would be a great buy for $1k. But where is the transmission? That sucks, their is another $1,200 you need to spend.

I'd try to find a decent used engine for a couple thousand bucks and put in a rebuilt transmission. If you can keep it under $5k you would have a nice driver.
