one bad glow plug+any temp below freezing=long morning.
fixed one plug and now no prob so far into about 10deg range.

All the start failures I have had over the years can be attributed to a few things.

300SD
Dead glow plugs
To cold
Ran it out of fuel. In my defence I didn't know the guage was mess up.

Knock on wood the SDL has always fired right up when I turned the key, now that I said that of course...

my driveway is sloped so that when you park the nose is down.

back when i had three kids driving my cars there were at least three times when they came in and said the car wouldn't start and i found out the tank was empty.

just enough to get home but with the hill not enough to start it up again.

it made me laugh and remember the bill cosby line about running out of gas starting up the car.

(well i probably didn't laugh right away!)

I have found these cars start okay even with the IP timing off, unless the IP is bad.

They start okay, but they do not run very well.

one reason i can think of is a hole in the side of the engine thats a real big clue something is going on...
