The switchover valve on an SD is located on the firewall closest to front about 8 inches away from IP, which has the ALDA on top. You'll see a number of lines going to it, including a clear line from turbo, on bottom, another clear line from ALDA on top. And an electrical plug. Mine, anyway.

Cool thanks for that Toomany... I guess that was it and I checked it out. looked clean I even tried blowing air thru each side by mouth.. All good I guess...

:shame:

Besides not contributing to the gunk going in the vac line on the other side of the manifold, what else does the "closing off" of the EGR valve do? I guess the egr valve has some say in the pressure of vac in that manifold??

Thanks guys!:rolleyes4

I'm not. Our NA 606's put out more power than their blown engines. Of course, that doesn't mean that I would turn down a nice turbo CDI.

Not more than mine.:D

Closing off EGR will result in burning filterd air all the time, as opposed to exhaust gasses sometimes. Cleaner, cooler air=happy, productive engine (air pump).

Sweet! Thanks Toomany... I stuck a piece of a cut golf tee in that rubber part of the vac line on top of the egr valve and replaced it. Looks like stock and can be removed later if so desired..

Thanks again for helpin the NooB!!

:D

What Lines go to where?

Ok I am a putts. I forgotten to mark which lines go to where on the Switch Over Valve. Currently, I have the Alda line to letter A and the manifold line to letter B. Is this correct? or does it matter?

Also I tried looking for a replacement online. Is this really called a "Switch Over Valve"? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advanced!

Marz, your SO valve looks different compared to my 85 300D. On mine, the line coming from the manifold comes in the bottom and the line going to the Alda comes out the side. The relief is on the top.

Really... Got a pic of it? Also, do you have a part number?
