I just posted some large pictures over on the open discussion. Attachment manager said 65kb was the limit but the pictures were larger and it took them. I was using a MAC. Perhaps that makes a difference.

A mac has nothing to do with the picture size.
To post large pics:
Create a free account at photobucket.com
Upload your pics
Copy the image link from your photobucket upload
Paste it in your post like this:

Downsize

What you need to do, is crop a photo as TIGHTLY as you can. Get rid of ANY wasted space. Then, make the photo so people can see it, on some things a 2x2 is ok, and others a 3x4 or whatever. Then set it to about 50 ppi (pixels per inch), maybe 60. On your post, click to add attachments. Select the photo to attach, and if there's a 2nd photo, click to attach it.

If the picture is significantly larger than the forums 800x600/65kb limit, it will automatically resize the picture for you after it uploads.

Example: Uploaded at 2048x1536 1.1MB
Result after uploading 800x600 43.6Kb

I always get denied in loading anything bigger then 65kb. So how are you doing that?

BTW - Nice closeup shot of the idle adjustment screw.

I'm not sure. One day I uploaded an unedited picture by accident. It was just one of those "Oh, cool!" moments.

What? English please! Not too long ago I learned how to turn this computer on. If it wasn't for my kids , I'd still be using sidewalk chalk.

Ok Fellas..... we are not talking file size here but the physical size of the pic when "pasted" in the thread is what I was going after.

Yes, the forum limits file sizes to 65kb+-.... and it does adjust (most of the time) the file size so stays around 65kb when you upload a file.

BUT...... what I am asking about I believe was answered by the post about having a photbucket or similar acct....

I guess I'll set up a photobucket acct if I want it to come out big. Only reason I was interested was for clarity when posting...

THere was a comment on this that the downside of the photbucket type accts is you are at the mercy of that website. If your photos get deleted there then you photos in the forum also goes poof...

I posted a pic the other day and tried to use the same pic on another thread ,and it came back that I had already used the photo in another thread and would not allow it to be used again. Whats up with that?

I believe the way around that is to change the file name...

When I encounter that (its a way the web site saves space on their servers)
I simply save the file with some small changes, like I run it thru Adobe Photoshop LE and cut off a small area and resize it. That's how I trick the server from bouncing my image.
