Is it local to you? If so, I'd be terrified of rust in the rockers/floor.

No rust, good interior, working A/C, 89k verifiable miles...$4500.

Some rust, interior shabby but serviceable, no A/C, 89k dubious miles...$2k.

Rusted to ****, chickens roosting inside...couldn't pay me enough.

That's the kicker. With only a 5 digit odometer, knocking off a 100k or two is fairly easy.

Paperwork to back up the 89K claim is a must or you can cut off about 1/2 it's value.

Yep, and not many people have enough oil-change or mechanic's receipts to document 33 years of mileage checks.

That's why if you do have a paper-trail, it's like having gold...but if not, you buy a car like this just assuming that the mileage is completely arbitrary.

Nice car - same color combination as mine, but the one pictured has an automatic transmission (which will make it very slow off the line as they start in second gear) and power windows but yet no power antenna. It does have the desirable passenger side mirror and Bundt wheels and the seats look much better than mine. If the heater blower fan doesn't work you could knock off a good amount as it is a $$$$ to fix. I paid $800 for mine 3 yrs ago but put much more $$$ into replacing many bad parts including shock absorbers, engine mounts, brake lines, fuel lines, etc much of which could be an issue even on a car with lower miles, just due to age. And I still have many things to fix (heat, air conditioning, radio, tie rods, rear seat etc). Mine doesn't have much rust though and was over 220K miles with very few service records and some obvious neglect and some strangely done "modifications".

Is that the correct steering wheel?

I had a 74 240 D but I distinctly remember a plastic thin wheel with a metal rung for the horn. I may have taken that from an earlier car though...

No, that is the earlier wheel which was last used in 1973 or 72 I think...the big black plastic steering wheel pictured in this post is the correct wheel for the 1974 W115.
