How do you replace the Shift Lever Bushing?
So the shift lever in my 82 300D is pretty loose and rattles when I drive down the road. With some help from this forum it was suggested to me to replace the shift lever bushing. The one I ordered arrived yesterday and i'm unclear on how to put change it. Do I go in from top of the shifter or do I have to get under the car? Also, if there is a DIY page for this it would help out. Thanks.

There is a DIY thread, and it does have to be done under the car. IIRC, there are two bushings to replace.

So does anybody have the part # for the bushings I need for my 82 300D...I only bought one...

Take a look at the DIY articles
Jeff Bach did the best posting on how to change it. Very clear instructions, along with decent photos (hard place to photograph in!!). But his post will help you a lot.

Are you talk about the bushings inside the shift lever just under the PRNDSL numbers or the ones under the car for the shift linkage going to the side of the transmission??

You are going to have to remove the gear selector completely in order to press in the bushing that connects it to the shift linkage. You've got to remove the shift linkage as well. It takes way too much force to press these bushings to do it all under the car. Oh yeah, and make sure that you get the clamp tightened completely around the gear selector lever on the transmission itself. I didn't tighten mine correctly, and it slipped off when I kicked it into reverse, and before I knew it I was stuck in my yard and had to get AAA to two me out. Not fun.

No, no, no
