Very good info. It is fun to finally get an answer to the puzzle.
Both my 240's (80 and 81) do not have engine shocks, but do have the rear engine mount. Both have standard trannys. My old 300D, 1977 model, had one on the passenger side. Auto tranny. The rear engine mount on the Squash has turned to dark Jello. I am supposed to have one on the way.....

According to the shop manual, early W123 300D engines had one shock fastened to the right aluminum engine bearer, while later ones used one on each side, fastened to a bracket on the oil pan..
