I just completed another power to manual sunroof conversion, took pictures along the way, coming to a thread near you soon. Also, I prefer to just clean the guides and rails, no grease or lube to attract dirt. If you have them adjusted properly they slide easily.

One of the guys at my parts dept. recommended that I purchase the Mitsubishi sunroof grease. He had very good luck with it. I used it on both the e300 and my Passat.

Use the proper MB lube for sunroofs. I never understand why people buy a car that was originally $40-$60k and then don't want to spend ten bucks to use the correct maintenance items. Rusty sells small quantities of the lube (Gleitpaste). His number is 800-741-5252, or email 'rusty@***************'. I'm not sure if FastLane sells it or not.
