There has to be someone around with a used radiator. I have replaced a number of these....even customized a couple that 'almost fit'.
A lot better than ordering new. dd

the picture he posted is of an aftermarket rad I think... the OEM model I pulled out of my SD isn't like that one. does anybody have an old aftermarket rad laying around?
perhaps some kind of washer can be fabbed to go in there and wedge against the cooler fitting. maybe pull real hard on the line, and wrap some wire around it... better than nothing. John

The drain cock got knocked off of the radiator on my old 4Runner. Its got a hex shaped metal drain cock that's pressed into the metal bottom of the radiator. I used JB weld to re-attach it and its held for years. Of course, I watched the temp needle like a hawk for a while and I worried about it now and then. I figured the vibration would eventually crack the seal.
The JB weld is worth a shot, just keep an eye on it...while you're looking for a good deal on a new radiator

I didn't see that he'd double posted in this forum too, I saw his post yesterday in the parts section andreplied I have 2 of the nut/washer pieces from a dead rad I pulled apart.
Are you still in need?

Follow up
Well, the nut arrived via express mail today thanks to Mustang_man298.
I added a washer from my toolbox and it was installed and filled with coolant 15 minutes later (no JB Weld). Drove her around for about 20 minutes to really warm her up. No leaks, eyeball melting heat, everything seems fine. I'm sure its probably not a permanent repair, but if (when) it does fail it should only be a slow leak and is unlikely to leave me stranded. So, for now I've saved over $200 and like I said, I had very little to lose by trying. Huge thanks to Mustang_man298. |
