Crap Hose next to Monovalve
I can't seem to figure out what in the world this is. I was looking under the hood today in my 1983 300D, and I found this hose to the left of the monovalve. The hose is about an inch in diameter. It comes out of the firewall, but there is absolutely nothing connected to the other end of it. It's just hanging there. So I looked up inside this hose and I found a bunch of crap. It looked like mud and soot inside of it. What could this hose be?

Sounds like a drain line to me.

probably an evap drain hose.

Cowl vent drain tube. It has a flat opening at the bottom that allows water out but no debris in. Their is another just to the inside of the brake booster. All W123's have them.

Alright, thank you. Do you know where I can find a replacement? Because mine is falling to pieces. Or is it really not necessary to replace it?

Either get it at a junk yard, the dealer($$$) or use plasti-dip spray to recover it.
