Check your SLS fluid level ASAP and plan on changing fluid and filter for it in near future unless you have maint records showing otherwise.

For the highly coveted (more than the neighbor's wife) roof rack crossbars, I suggest removing them and keeping them indoors when not in use.
It'll also cut down on wind noise. Welcome! John Lennon once owned a 300TD, also non-turbo. He doesn't any more, but the one he had occasionally pops up on Ebay. It's been through the wringer.
