how much should i pay for 1987 300TD wagon 300???

It's 1987 300TD turbo wagon , has about 300k.
It's in poor condition , some rust n rear windows don't work . Engine doesn't turn off with key, gotta open the hood n push the handle on IP to turn it off.
I think I will need alotta work.
So Wut u guys think ? How much should I pay for it ?

Why do you want it?

Seriously.

There are pages of advice on this forum, telling people not to buy an old, used Mercedes diesel based on price. Or one in poor condition... unless you need it for parts. If that is the case, I'd suggest that a parts car is $700 for that model.

There's a guy selling a w124 300d sedan in the cars for sale section that looks pretty clean and he has records for lots of stuff done to the car. Do yourself a favour and get in touch with him.

the 87 wagons are quite rare. however, a basket case is a money pit.
rust is a deal breaker in most cases, nobody on here is going to say what the car is worth without lots of pictures, and a detailed description of the working condition of the drivetrain.

the engine alone can set you back 10K in repairs. transmission another 3-5K, windows, another 1K, climate control another 1 to 2 K, body repairs have no limits on expense... 2-25K in some cases...

if you have a wagon, and need parts (not many useable parts on this wagon it seems...) 300-800 price... to fix it and drive as a car, LOTS more details and pictures are needed.

I wouldn't have a serious problem with giving $500 for a complete basket case '87 wagon. But I want an '87 TD pretty bad. Rust is the deciding factor. If there is too much rust, then it's a lost cause. I would almost be interested in a 100% rust free body without an engine
