Removing w124 diff mounts anyone know how to get enough room to use the tool
Hi there,
I am trying to get my w124 differential mounts out. I have the diff. Unbolted but I can't get it low enough to be able to use the puller tool. It pretty much needs to be about 10-12 inches lower than when it's bolted up. There are two ways I can think of to go with it. a. Down-but the control arms are holding up the axle shafts so the diff can't go any lower than those will let it since when I let it down the control arms catch the axles. Also, there's not enough clearance to remove the diff cover to access the shafts to take them out. b. Forward toward the front of the car. But I don't know if it would move forward enough. Anyone know how far forward the diff can travel being still attached to the axles? I'd need it to move to the front of the car about 1 foot to have room for the puller tool. Now to do this I'd have to remove the driveshaft... Any ideas here? c. Anyone know how to get enough clearance for that tool? I've been scratching my head for about 3-4 weekends trying different things. |
Anyone know how to remove the driveshaft?
