ditto.....just be carefull your children or pets don't pick them up and eat them or play with them. It would be better to scatter the mothballs inside your trunk....they would be safer there and would force the rodents to find another home....hopefully not your house!

Yep, and it will keep your sinuses clear
I think it is still better than smelling rodent urine and fecal matter and my be exposing yourself to the Hantavirus which is a rodent born virus.

I've never owned another vehicle that got rodents in it (and I have owned probably 15+ vehicles over the last 20 years). Is this more brilliant German engineering at work? I'm also amused that the thread has completely bypassed the obvious which is to block the holes that rodents access from. Surely someone else in the Mercedes community has come to the same conclusion and worked on keeping the rodents out mechanically rather than chemically or violently and can shed some light on where they gain access...

I don't really want my car to smell like mothballs or cloves and I'm not going to house a cat or snakes in the car. I park it at my house in the middle of the city right next to my other three vehicles (which don't have rodent access).

I never had them come around when in the city either. But when living near fields or out in the suburbs, they can pop up.

I don't believe theres any way you can prevent them from infiltrating the insides of a car... at least not the engine compartment... and sometimes the trunk especially if the car sits around for weeks/months.

They get in the garage by chewing their way thru the rubber molding at the base of garage door. Especially in the winter time, they look for warmer places to hang out.

...let the cat live outdoors where the car is......my 80ish yo mother lives in Ocean City, MD, and had mouse debris/detritus inside of her air cleaner on a Toyota Camry last year.....it was discovered during routine servicing....the mice were entering her garage and living inside of the air cleaner.....so I doubt that 20+ year old German engineering is at fault, the Japanese engineered Toyota Camry is only about 3 years old.....

Perhaps it's possible that the mice came with the car.....did you purchase it from a seller in the country??
