How much a 300D worth??

Came across a 300 Turbo Diesel in VA. The mileage is un-known. Has some minor damage on one side. Floors are solid. Rear wheel wells some rust. Ac does not work. I am sure will need more mechanical work. What is it worth? They are asking 1K and have brought them down to $700 is it worth it? Thanks in advance.

Does it run and drive? If so $700 is not a bad deal, and you can use this one as a parts car if needed.

Is the tranny a harsh shift or does it flair? A lot of times a simple check of the vacuum system or a minor adjustment can smooth things out.

Lack of vacuum means hard shifting between the gears. Vacuum leaks are the first thing to look for when it comes to the tranny.

your so right , my new to me 82 300d was just put on the road. The 1 -2 shift was a jolt into second ,then way to quick into 3rd and smooth into 4th. The fitting from the main vac line to the vcv and to the modulator was loose fitting. The tube would just slide around in the rubber connector. New rubber connector for $1.19 at Pepboys and it feels like I have a new transmission

for $700, I would say it's worth it for the parts. In my recent experience, there is always more rust that you can see, so keep that in mind.....

And send me a set of rear shocks while you're at it
