Well I'd think the rack dampener bolt is failing, but who can argue with the results of the failure. I wouldn't fix it.

I can't believe I missed this thread.

So is it a X axis or Y axis shake?

My 240D motor mounts completely collapsed in August of 2005 and the car would shake up and down (the best kind) even when cranking. New motor mounts made a world of difference.

Have your injector look at. Maybe you adjust it to allow variable timing in conjuntion with dual rack dampeners.

Udderly fantastic. A set of tassels might impart some important motion and frequency information for diagnostic purposes. I see some evidence of counter rotation there as well. How do you wreck your motor mounts? Is there a sticky?

Looks to me like the left boob is like 20% bigger than the right. Oh and uh...yeah, adjust the rack damper bolt. IF you truly are seeking to fix the "problem". Personally I'd see no problem with it.

It may not be the mounts at all.
There's a possibility, it's the little shocks in there. While the engine torques, at speed they flex, and become stiffer, as they charge up. When you stop, they are harder, and less forgiving when the engine "torques". It is a possibility, I had this problem a few years back on one of my 123 Coupes, and the little shocks on the engine mounts turned out to be the issue. Changed the mounts twice, before finally eliminating the problem, by swapping out those little shocks, for new ones.

I noticed the same thing after driving home almost every night this week, after about 40 minutes of steady 60mph driving... coming up to a stop the car is skaking pretty bad at idle. The engine is not dying, or loping, in fact it appears smooth if that makes sense. The engine just seems to be moving the body of the car. At higher rpm's the engine is as smooth as can be. I shifted into neutral and reved the engine, and the shaking and rocking got better....

I have the Diesel Purge treatment planned for this weekend as I have owned the car 6 months, and about 8,000 miles and not done it yet.

I did change the fuel filters when I first got the car....

I haven't read anything yet on the archives. anyone experience this.
I am in pain from laughing...

No HARD feelings but I really don't care about your car problem right now, and your wife has great control from the looks of things.

So is it a X axis or Y axis shake?
quote]

By the look of the video the shake seems to be radial in nature. Although it could the garment she's wearing. Could you ask her to remove it, please? All just for properly diagnosing and fixing the automobile, of course.

Of course we are all professionals here, and put some ribbons on just so we can get a better idea of the movement pattern.
