Angry Cruise Control Amp. Location

Could someone please tell me the location of the cruise control amp on my 1987 300 TDT? I'm a bigger fella and I'm having difficulty looking for it under the driver's side dash area where I assume it is......

it might be easier to find if you pull the instrument cluster.

You are looking in the right place. It's not the easiest thing to get to. I changed mine when I had my dash apart to do the vacuum pods. You may be able to pull a panel below the steering wheel, but I may not be remembering it correctly though.

Good luck,

Chris

1987 cruise control amp

I just pulled the cruise amp on my wife's '87. It's located behind the lower dash panel on the driver's side. Move the seat back as far as it will go to make some room to work in. You probably can get by without disconnecting the battery but that's your choice. You have to pull the headlight knob and unscrew its 24mm nut, remove the hood release handle and the emergency brake release handle, the little trim panel around the ignition switch, etc., and undo a bunch of screws. The FSM has all the details.

Once the panel is off, you will see the amp, a long aluminum box, attached to a bracket that in turn is attached to the underside of the dash with two screws. Remove the amp with the bracket as the bracket's screws are easier to reach.
