Just Picked Up My 1984 300D

I'm back in the saddle again!
Its a 1984 300D turbo with 189K miles. Metallic Brown with MB-Tex Java interior. Now every morning I see this car and I want a cup of coffee! This car has a lot more room than my 1985 190D had. I don't have to deal with a door pillar in my shoulder. I guess I can make the GTG in the North East. The first things I want to fix are the cruise control and instrument panel dimmer. Please let me know how to pull the instrument cluster.
Thanks!

You will need to creat some slack forthe speedo cable by pushing it in from under the hood.

Remove the kick panel, reach up and push the cluster out. Disconnect the oil line to the oil pressure guage, disconnect speedo cable, disconnect electrical. Cluster should then be free.

Thanks!
I hope to change out the CC amp and fix that dimmer knob today.

We have that exact same car! Brown metallic 300D with the Java-tex interior, except ours is an '83.

Please disconnect the battery also. There is a hot 12 volt line (red with yellow stripe) in there for the clock that can do a nice arc and scare the crap out of you for a second. Not to mention the fuse it will blow. Hmmm, wonder how I know?? lol
