On a side note, does anyone else always sniff the pump spout before filling up to make sure it smells right? I do, and I'm not really sure why. It's not like they'd fill it up with gasoline, seeing as, at the station I use, it's set away from the gasoline pumps. You never know, though. I do find that the ULSD smells a little different from the old stuff, although maybe it's just in my head.
Yes, I feel that you've been sniffing WAY to much, of too many different things, and it's without question that it's effecting your head....

I'm not huffing it ... just taking a light whiff near fill-hole while its filling. Not getting anywhere near the fumes I'd get while, say, changing a fuel filter or return line ... or even just getting diesel on my hands at a messy pump (something that happens a lot if you use a station where work trucks stop frequently ... those fellas are not always anally tidy like me ). Now, one time I dumped a large portion of diesel on my shoe and actually had to stop wearing those shoes for about a week ... the smell of the shoe would actually make me dizzy when I sat at work with it on. Eventually just left the shoe outside for a couple days until it defumed a bit.

are you aware, that if you drive diesel, you ARE allowed to pump your own fuel in NJ?

I know you can at truck stops, but is that also true at small stations? Not that I go to NJ a lot. I so infrequently use full service I almost son't know what to do when I get to such a station. One time I stopped at a full service station in New York in my Jeep, and it took me a few minutes to PROVE to the attendant that my car was a diesel ... "You mean gas, right?" .... "No, diesel please" ... "Really, you want diesel? You're SURE this is a diesel?" ... finally had to show him the green cap that says "diesel fuel only" ... LOL At least he cared enough to be extra sure, though. He was pretty impressed by the car once he saw it really was a diesel.
