Let me know how you feel after your 13th birthday.

I've owned a few sports cars with fairly load exhausts, that actually provided some performance benefit, putting big pipes on a benz makes about as much sense as bolting on a big wing.

I already had it last week. I would've invited you to the party, but the girls said you had cooties.

... and it's about as impressive. I doubt anyone would ever hear someone say "Wow -- that 5-cylinder diesel Benz sounds badass!"

Hey now, its sounds pretty fierce! I like it, it sounds mean. I scared some little kids on the sidewalk already when I took off at a traffic light, so that proves it!

I timed my car 0-60 today, it was a slight uphill grade...so a little skewed, but its the best I had. from mashing the pedal at a standstill till winding it out in 3rd at 60mph took just over 12 seconds. Uphill, full tank of fuel, lots of junk in trunk. (4 degree grade is my guess) So I am guessing 10.5-11ish on flat ground.

I know for a fact it wasn't that fast with the exhaust all hooked up, it felt lethargic. Now it pulls like heck! Totally getting a 3" pipe once I fix it...which I need to, the one downside to letting out the exhaust up front is that when sitting in traffic it gets a little.....cloudy with exhaust in the car...

Update....I went on a 155 mile freeway drive today down to Sturgis, MI to visit Matt (deerefanatic here on the forum), I was easily maxing the vehicle on the way too and from. Loads of 75+ acceleration.

Biggest part: Fueled up when I got back to GR, my mileage has JUMPED from an average 21.5mpg to 25.6mpg today!!! I haven't seen mileage like that since oh...right around last JULY, right before Lentz put that overly restrictive exhaust system on my car!! I am glad I found the problem, and am still plotting my new pipe setup. I may go dual 3" out the sides like ForcedInduction.

I've only got a single side now (out the passenger side). It was too loud for me with an exit on the drivers side.

My old 116 SD was running a straight pipe to the driver side under the left pass door, after a while I get headaches from the noise. it was fun to hear the un-muffled sound.

Now I may wanna to take way my rear muffler on my 126 SD. One rear pipe was already broken off.
It has some kind of cherry bomb muffler in where the res was.

I'm in the process of re-building my 3" front to back, with the proper hangers and bends and the proper flex tubing. I have new motor mounts now so I can build the exhaust tighter to the body and it won't shake itself apart.

I'm finishing with THIS Dual 3" rolled stainless.....

I heard Brandon31415's tan intercooled 300SD with the pump turned up and it did sound bad ass.

Do a search on "cherry bomb" and see my pictures. It was easy and less than $50. It did make a difference and did it with almost no change in noise. If you put your ear near the exhaust tip you will hear something that differs from a stock 300SD but you won't be able tell as it drives by.

Today I hacked off the system Lentz put on my car last July. Never go to them for exhaust, they do a craptastical job. They used 2 and 1/4" pipe, and they messed up with bending it, so some spots had about 1.5" or less of width for the air to pass through! This was in 3 places on the pipe. Then the muffler they put on was baffled, and weighed a ton, took that off. I installed my new OEM (ansa) header pipe, clamped it, I used about 1.5 feet of the old pipe that continues past the bolted flange, slipped a 2.5" piece of pipe on that reached to just before the end of the drive-shaft tunnel, then I put a curved piece towards the passenger side, and finally a downpipe piece right in front of the rear subframe, about 3" in front of it, in that open space where the resonators used to be. So I have the exhaust exiting under the car, and its a straight 2.5" pipe from turbo....to where it exits. Started it up, and WOW is it loud. Not so much at idle, or even so much when just cruising, its when accelerating that it makes the real "roar" sound. At first I found it....a bit loud ....but now that I've been driving with it I am used to it and don't think it will be a problem. If it really annoys me I'll add in a small resonating "straight through" muffler or something, to take it down a few notches. I must say though, spool up is great, acceleration is effortless. It enjoys the straight pipe. I found that my old header pipe had completely broken off at the base of the flex joint. Seems to be the common failure spot for them. The new pipe is more flexible and has a stainless mesh surrounding it though, so its slightly better.

We'll see if it makes my mpg's go up anymore....I went from 21 avg to 25.5 avg when the header pipe broke, maybe I'll get another 1 or 2 now.

I'll try to take some pics of it tomorrow and add them in here.
