Have they broken through the 500 hp barrier yet?

The highest dyno chart pic I've seen posted on mersuforum.net is one of a 190D with an OM603 (not OM606) churning out 482 hp screaming at 5700 rpm. The fact it produces this power at that rpm with plain diesel fuel is just unbelievable.

EDIT: (I bet that blue W124 with the OM606 is close, perhaps even has greater power)

i swear to god, that my 300SD can do 125mph!
i love driving to school in the mornings, and going down the highway people see me coming in the fastlane and get the hell over into the slow lane, i find that the car is intimidating to some....

The most intimidating thing is the black smoke I want to put a fuel injector in the exhaust.. The shut down engine smokescreen trick is probably not good for the engine.. There shouldn't be too much pressure post-turbo.. Anyone know if a washer fluid pump would survive diesel? They handle methanol just fine.. (Made my own winter fluid of pure methanol.. defrosts the windows instantly )

When attempting top speed runs in a legal and safe environment, make sure you verify speedometer accuracy with a GPS device. 125 mph in an '82 300SD is not likely (pretty much impossible), unless you, or somebody else, tweaked the IP governor. If your car is making strong power at higher speeds, the sudden reduction in power will surprise you as you edge against the limits.

My 350SD would top out around 115 mph at BEST (I later learned why). The black 350SDL I was driving may have been able to eek 120 mph. The gearing does not allow the 350 to reach its full potential, imho (cuts out like a brick wall at 105 mph).

hehe, im not sayin it gets there easily, but if i hold the pedal to the floor long enough, it makes it.

You must be a risk taker! Even my water injection is only 50% methanol.

I got sick of scraping ice off the windows at 6am before school.. Had methanol for biodiesel, knew washer fluid was partly methanol, therefore, methanol into washer fluid tank.. worked great. It probably wasn't pure methanol though, I had about 1/4 tank of fluid in there, so it was probably around 85%, assuming 25% methanol in the fluid originally. I'm on regular fluid now that its warmed up.

How is that working for you? I went up to 50% Methanol and got a crazy noise/knocking when it kicked in. I added some water and it mellowed out. I was thinking more like 35%/65% Meth/water

Yes. Our 3700 pound cars with 120HP are so fast.

Works fine with my single 300cc/min nozzle. I get about 3-5hp at the wheels out of it (proven at the dyno) depending on the ambient humidity. I've even been thinking of going to 5 individual 65cc/min nozzles to keep the mixture even and add another 25cc/min flow.

I've got the system removed at the moment. I'm working on getting a 5gallon tank and moving the pump/tank to the trunk.

Folks,
I am presently studying Surveying at Glenville State College here in WV. And from what I have learned in the GPS related courses, the average GPS is not all that accurate......now if you want to spend around $50K for a good GPS unit, and have your results corrected for cloud cover and such (there are base reference stations at various locations worldwide).....then perhaps you will get some useful data.....

Really? I am told 0.1 mph accuracy according to my Garmin manual. Very accurate, imho.

I just use the speed trap things (the tow away radar device that shows your speed)

plus when I was pulled I asked the cop what he clocked me and and he laughed when I was like... sweet my spedo isnt that off..

I have mine set up with a 2.5 gallon tank in the trunk and the pump is back there also. That seamed to be the most popular place for install on the manufactures web site and I am happy with it.

Im not sure about cc/min. my nozzle was labled as a 7 gph. I was thinking that a second nozzle might be more effective. still plotting the location for that... that is interesting about the 3-5HP, i havent been on the dyno with mine but that seams believable.

An 85 300SD has a better chance of reaching 125 since it has a 2.88 rear end. I have only touched triple digits in mine and it still has plenty of pull. Since I put a cheery bomb and Franken turboed it it has longer legs still. I can't wait to see what its like when I intercool and de californate it.
