240D Tach
has anyone tried the hooking up a tach to the EGR amp like they talked about in the post Tach Amp Question?
I hooked it up today on my girlfriends 240D that now has a OM617 in it and it works like a charm 2 wires no extra parts and your good to go. the car is getting closer to being done thankfully

If it has an OM617, then it really isn't a 240.....

true true but it should work on a 240 engine with the EGR amp, and it just wouldnt be right to rebadge the car when its still a 240 just slightly faster now

no no its a OM617 turbo but still missing a key link to make it drivable (the front half of the drive shaft) so I dont know how fast is it is now or was with the 616
|

Im sorry didnt mean to get your hopes up, I guess you could always add the crank pickup sensor and all that but thats allot more work then it may be worth

240D tach
Hi all,
I built a small pickup using a hall effect sensor driving an amplifyer to trigger my aftermarket tach. Works very well. It senses the four big lobes on the back of the harmonic balancer, so my tach thinks its dealing with a V-8!  If anyone's interested I can post some pics.Cheers, Chris
