Installed the new hood pad
Started out by installing some fatmat for added sound deadening
 finished product  I will post if it makes any difference sound wise once I road test it.

I just noticed it looks FAR nicer under there with the hood open. No sound reduction on my stuff...

I used 3m 08090 spray adhesive. It is pretty straight forward basically followed Rusty's DIY

I'm about to do the same thing. Is it any quieter with the extra matting?

I cannot see how any sound reduction would occur from the hood pad. other than exterior noise.
just hood paint protection, and outsider noise reduction. i mean, come on! the SD is pretty quiet! that second firewall really helps cut down the noise. it is worlds of difference between my 79 TD and the 82 SD with noise, and neither one has a hood pad. John
