1993 300d 2.5t wiper blade posessed?

My wiper blade goes off numerous times a drive at any given time. Usually a few to a dozen strokes and then it stops-all without touching the wiper blade mechanism. It seems to do this in warmer weather only as it went away in the winter. What could be causing this?
