So...how do you install a trunk seal? (1978 240D)

Hello folks,

Discovered a leak in my trunk recently; I poured some water across the rear window seal and trunk panel to figure out where the water's coming from; looks like it's the trunk seal (thankfully?). From the forums it seems ******** sells the seal I need, but I can't find any information on how to install it. I assume it will require some sort of sealant that I don't know about. Does anyone what kind of sealant I'm looking for?

Thanks,
Andrew

P.S. It's my first post here, but I've been reading for a while; just "inherited" my car a friend who decided it was more fun to drive a diesel Ford truck (go figure). The forums here have been pretty helpful over the past few months.

I just changed the seal on my SD, it should be similar. make sure the lip goes on the inside of the circle, not the outside. this gives the water somewhere to flow. compare your old seal to the new one when you get it, you will see what I mean.
I used the yellow weatherstrip adhesive, 3M at the autoparts store.
they sell a black too... I like the yellow, it's kinda like rubber cement. just coat the inside of the track, then coat the part of the seal that drops in the track, and pop it in.

Hey Andrew,
Welcome!
Now, pardon me for asking, but you had to manually go in and change your font. I am the biggest "Times New Roman" font guy, but at least don't shrink it down to microbe level. Some of us don't see as well as we used to, and I still haven't purchased "readers" yet.....

John: thanks for the info. Anything that recalls rubber cement must be the right idea.

Jimmy: whoops; sorry about that. You mean that everyone doesn't enjoy immeasurably small typefaces?
