Where is my oil going???

I am not leaking any oil, not that I can find, but after about 2000 miles, my oil light starts coming on every so often. I dont ever see any smmoke coming out of the back, but could it be the fact that I run it up to close to 4K rpms fairly regularly?

How's your air filter look? If it's oily then you have some pretty good blowby.

Your level sensor may be going bad.

I'll assume that you have been checking the oil level when the oil light has been acting up and it is at a normal level.....?

The Oil Level Sending Unit is pretty simple to locate and replace. On your model it should be on the driver's side of the oil pan just above the drain plug. Its secured with two bolts and is sealed against the pan with a "O" Ring. You will want to drain the oil first or siphon out a few quarts to drop the level below the Sending Unit before you remove it. I think the OIl Level Unit runs about $40-$50 plus a couple bucks for the O Ring.

Good Luck
