Now I can brag about having a diesel again!

The fun of hearing a diesel clatter is ....? Only with lower diesel prices and great fuel mileage can I brag about having a diesel.

A local station had RUG at $2.93 and diesel at $2.92 . Just changed pricing to RUG $2.87 and diesel $2.82. Yes, that is the way I want it to go, but keep on coming down.

At a saint louis BP station:

Diesel: 2.71
RUG: 3.14

Now I have an easy answer to say to people when they ask me why I got a diesel car instead of the strength of the engine, reliability, etc... They think I'm nuts for getting a diesel!

I'll check next time I am out. I have not bought fuel since March. It's rough running homebrew...

Finally back home for the summer

Just topped off today:

$2.79 #2
$3.29 RUG

Apparently that 2.69 report was wrong.

From Boston's NOrth Shore

Diesel was selling for between $2.78 and 2.85 along Route 1 and 95. Reg Unl is going for $2.83 and better on the same strecth. I'm happy. Hope it stays this way!!

Part of the fun of diesel ownership is that it's a cheaper way to travel. Doesn't need to be 1/2 the cost of gas, but it *should* be cheaper. It's easier to refine. It was cheaper for 50 odd years. When it's more expensive, I start looking at my 300SD as a Stanley-Steamer type of curiosity, not a viable transportation option- I'll own it forever, and use it whenever I wish, but if it's cheaper to take my 150+mph Audi Quattro running hi-test, something's not right. I smile knowingly when i see diesel at 15c or more below RUG nowadays- all is right in the world. If I have to pay more than premium gas prices, I want the acceleration of a 560SEL!
Yes, it is easier to refine but so what? Part of the price is based off supply and demand.
