Weird Surging or Starving at 55-60mph

OK, so... this is my first post on this Forum. Be kind.

I have a 1995 E300D with 287K miles. It starts fine, runs fine, etc... BUT it has started acting weird only between 55 and 60mph. It seems as if it is almost misfiring but without the noises... it has almost a back and forth (rather than side to side) surging. It is the weirdest thing. It is not ambient temp dependant, not engine temp dependant, and it does not do it when accelerating through that speed range... only at cruise. It almost seems like it is not getting enough fuel, but again... only at that speed.

It is running on full dino-diesel, no bio or blend. The car currently has a blend of ULSD and regular pump diesel in the tank but it seems as if it doesn't matter.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am not an expert but it sounds like one or both fuel filters are clogging. Just my $.02.

Clean and check the EGR system under the air intake manifold, and check for any leaks.

The under-hood fuel filter was changed about a month ago, not sure about the other. Is it at the fuel tank? (again, sorry... I am a newbie)

It has two fuel filters under the hood.

Has two air intake flaps; EGR and resonnance. They get sticky sometimes and can cause surges.
