My A/C Problems...

So, the heat here in San Diego has prompted me to try and fix my A/C. I've read hundreds of posts on here about a/c's and I'm trying to figure out what's going on with mine.

When I got the car, the previous owner had replaced the blower motor, the expansion valve and o-rings and the drier. He had also re-soldered the climate control unit. The A/C worked for a month or so and then it would just blow out air at the engine temp/outside temp. On hot days it was so hot, on cold days, it was never cold, just kinda luke warm.

So I took it into a shop to see if I had a leak. They filled it up with Freeze12 (the previous owner had already switched to it) and then looked for a leak. We found one in one of the high pressure hoses to the expansion valve. So I replaced that.

About one month later, it was back like before. I obviously must still have a leak.

Also, my climate control is wonky. The blower motor will cut out if I don't set it just right. If I try and turn the system to heat, nothing will turn on. I have to set it to be as cold as possible in order for it to turn on. It also won't turn on in economy mode. And defrost just sends lukewarm air out the front vents (center and sides). I never get any air out of the defrost vents nor do I out of the foot vents.

For a while I could get heat if I turned on the system to min. cool and then slowly turned the temp. dial to heat. Now the air isn't hot.

So that's about it. Does anyone have any ideas? Sounds like a lot of problems. My climate control unit seems to be messed up, maybe another try at re-soldering would be good?? Also, could the vent problems be vacuum related?

Thanks,
David

I would start with the resoldering of the pushbutton controller and see what differences it makes. It controls the monovalve for heat and turns on the compressor for A/C.
