What goes on this IP port?

I spent a few hours cleaning the engine compartment today, and I noticed this once the IP was revealed. See what looks like a vacuum nipple with nothing attached to it? What does it do?

IP Vent

Nothing goes there.... it is just a vent for the atmospheric pressure device attached to the IP....(It got me also when I got my first Benz).......I wanted to plug something on to it.....but did not know what...Cheers!

I was sure hoping so, because the car seems to run well enough. I just had to ask, though. This is, after all, my first Mercedes.

Thank you!

Yep, just a vent.

Adjust that screw about 1/4 turn CCW and I bet you will find it runs even better.

It adds more/less fuel to adjust for atmospheric pressure.

I might be convinced to screw with the screw later. Ha! I plan to adjust the valves, first, and replace the questionable fuel filters.

I'm guessing some sort of WVO injection line heaters...

Fattywagon?

Is it the Fattywagon injector line electric heaters? (They can be used for both biodiesel and WVO purposes, I think). Why do they look so shotty?

The orange goo is RTV sealant. The PO added injection line heaters because he was running this car off of a mix of 80% WVO with 20% RUG, and for some reason, he gooped them in to place like this.

Is it shoddy? Well, they certainly are well attached. Is it pretty? No. In fact, prior to pressure washing, there was much more goo covering all sorts of engine parts. It looked like a three-year-old had been fingerpainting under the hood. I guess he didn't have any rags on hand to clean up with, so he wiped himself off as best as he could with any available surface under the hood.

I actually tested the heater for continuity, and it has none. Something happened to it, so I guess it's going to go. If I heat these lines in the future, I'll make them much prettier than they are right now. As for the goop, my good friend suggested just replacing the entire line set with the next clean set I encounter at the salvage yard... I think I'll do just that.

Hah, when I bought mine I discovered that the idiot PO had plugged the line from the windsheild washer pump onto it That was pretty confusing for an MBZ newbie

I can only imagine the sort of look a person might have on their face upon discovering that.
