1987 300TDT wagon pre-resistor

have searched, but didn't see reference, so apologies in advance for redundancy:

1987 300TD wagon. Aux fan not coming on low along with A/C, although it does come on full tilt boogie when temp gets high enough. Investigation finds that there is a resistor (pre-resistor?) which is quite broken. As in so broken the ceramic is split.

Want to replace it, but am finding it very hard to find a reference Merc part number. Upon the part itself...

BERU
W. GERMANY
0 110 510 030

Then on the tab where it screws in, it says
0.2

What is it, where can I find replacement?

thanks in advance, y'all

Hello Tami,

Welcome to the forum. Look at this link in IE. It doesn't work in firefox. This is the parts book for your car from a Russian website. Maybe you can find the part number from this. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb1.asp?TP=1&F=124193%5F506&M=603%2E960&GA=722%2E317357&

Just click the parts button at the top of the page, I believe it was around $20 when I bought one.

Babymog,

Husband said he looked here and couldn't find it. That's why I ask.

What was your search term? What is this part called?

I've just looked at the parts here and I can't find it either. I guess hub and I are well paired, for we're both morons...

I'll be danged, I can't find it either here or online at my other source. Strange, because I've actually purchased this part for my '93. Just call the 800 number and tell the nice man you need the resistor for the electric cooling fan. He'll know exactly what you need.

As a temporary fix you can just connect the two leads from each end of the resistor together. The fan will run at high speed when only low speed is called for; this is not a problem. You _do not_ want to use the a/c without fixing this fan; that is looking for much larger and more expensive troubles.

www.*************** also has them, call and talk to Rusty. I prefer to buy from our sponsor though.

Try This

Try this number: 0001582545. The BERU resistor is about $17
