What is it, and what does it do???
First off let me say thanks for the help with the trany... Works great..
I have a banjo fitting coming off the back of the exhaust manifold that has about 1/2" of tubing on it. Now I'm sure that does something and connects to something. I just don't know what or where??? 1983 300SD Joe |

Sounds like you're talking about the tube that runs to the overboost protection valve over by the ALDA?
Take a look at this thread with pictures and see if it helps any.

1/2" of tubing?
do you mean it's broken off? it shoud be connected to a switch on your forward firewall ahead of the brake booster , then to the injector pump.
If it's broken, get it connected (wrecking yard parts will do) and you'll get a wonderful increase in performance. Do a search on ALDA to learn what this does.

I do not know of a banjo bolt on the exhaust manifold. If it is the one on the back of the intake, then the above posts are correct.

The first picture is where the banjo bolt is located. And there is only about a 1/2" of tubing left on there. There are no tubes that are just lying around to connect it to. So I am either missing the tube or it hooked to something else by misstake. Now where does this hose run to, is the next question... I will do a search on ALDA to see if that helps me. Thanks for the help guys. Joe |

Do you still have the ALDA installed? If not, not need to worry about it.
If you do, then the line runs from the intake, to a switchover valve located behind the brake booster on the firewall, at the 11 o'clock position. The line then runs from the valve to a banjo bolt on the ALDA.

This thing? It should go to a valve shown in the 2nd pic. Then out of the valve to the side of the ALDA located on top of the injection pump.

Ok guys you are the best... Once I had a picture and stated looking for the ALDA woo-hoo there she is, the ALDA and the line that connects to the exhaust manifold. So I start looking and yes the hose end was missing so I look in the garage and find a new piece of hose hook it up and do a test drive.
Hold on the your pantyhose, this thing runs... Yes the power is back and she runs strong... So thanks for all of your help... Like I have said before this is the best damn web site ever... Joe |
