Question ODO Cable (?) R&R

Hey Gurus,

Well I noticed when I got the car that the odomoter does not count the miles.. Trip meter does not either...

Is there a specific cable to look for that could be disconnected?

I think the last time my car was MB majorly serviced was at the 160k mark and she has about another estimated 60k on her.. (lots of major things nicely maintained really) Interior is toast though..

I would really like to get that odo working again and keep counting my way to the high mileage badge!

Cheers!

If the speedo is working, and not the odometer, common VDO speedo problem for this era. Not hard to fix, the gear has slipped on the end of the odometer drive, do a search here and there are some great tutorials, might check the DIY here also.

I don't think SDs have the same slipping issue. All the SD odometers I've encountered have had the plastic gears inside disintegrate.. I'm too poor to spend $20+ on one little gear...

The SD's don't use a cable, they get an electronic signal.

One of the gears probably went bad.

IF the end gear wheel is good it can be glued in place on to the shaft
