Auxiliary fan bracket material

I removed my auxiliary fan this weekend to clean the radiator and one of the brackets was broken on it. I have a friend who is going to weld it. I told him I thought it was aluminum, but he thinks it’s some other alloy. Does anyone know what the bracket is made of?

Chris

Tried the local dealer this afternoon, but all the techs were gone.

Just one aux fan on the 124. At least on the OM603 in my car.

Yes that is what my welding friend said. He will try it and back the joint up with aluminum if it takes. I'll know in a couple days.

Well it was either aluminum or an aluminum alloy as he was able to weld it.
