collant flush -- how much dish soap to degrease?
I have searched quite a bit, and while I see several threads suggesting dish soap as a degreaser during a coolant flush, I cannot find one that suggests how MUCH to use. Any thoughts? I have already flushed my system of all (or most, anyway) coolant and am running water now, FWIW.
Apologies in advance if I have glossed over said information during my search! |
I think tide is the preferred detergent.
dish soap may work, but laundry degreasing is best. John 1/4 cup I believe... not sure though. use google.com's advanced search and key in this website as the domain to search. John |

If you're going dish soap, use dishwasher soap.
Non-sudsing is what you want. |
A cup of Liquid Tide worked well for me.

Thanks for the advice, all! |
I would be carefull of a flush on a mb with an evil servo ,I have always used tide detergent when flushing all my cars ,but a 79 mb 300d I owned didnt like it to much ,it was the heater servo that bit the dust ,a crack made it worthless .Fortunately I remember seeing one at a junkyard days before,I really lucked out since they can be $700.or more.

Consider using detergent for a front loading washing machine. Tide, ALL and Gain all make the stuff. The advantage is the soap is designed to create less suds then the usual top loading machine soap.
