Ramps

Can anyone think of any problems with leaving a car up on ramps for about a week? The ramps are hard plastic and rated for 6000 lbs GVW, and the car is an 82 CD.

it's hard to drive the car that way.
other than that, nope.
ramps are very secure. chock the wheels, and be SURE the car is inpark and the Ebrake is set. and chock the wheels,
also don't forget to chock the wheels.
you may want to chock the wheels.
and don't forget to chock the wheels.

What are the opinions of the group on the hard plastic ramps? I'm planning on buying some soon but have been holding out for a metal pair. Should I worry about using the hard plastic ramps or just keep looking for metal?

Get metal ramps. They're not expensive. Try and get the longest ramps you can, they're easier to drive up.

I've never used the plastic ramps, however, I'd have no reservations about them. The safety factors are at least 2:1 and they're not going to fail anytime soon. However, if you left them exposed to the sun for 10 years, I might change my opinion...........

The only thing is make sure they are a strong design in . Keep away from some of the cheaper very low end steel units. I have seen and heard of them failing. And this did not occur with cars that are as heavy as our 123s.

I have a set of plastic ramps and I was pretty happy with them until something went wrong. They probably weren't long enough. But when you would drive up on them it was hard to stop smoothly on top. there would be a little jerk and bounce. This would sometimes cause the ramp to move slightly. they would start to slide and then catch, Eventually they bent from this. Its pretty scary to see your car up on a set of warped plastic ramps!!!
