Extended Cranking????

I just redid the IP seals and new lines on my 99 300TD. How can I do an extended engine cranking?? Using the key lets it spin about 5 sec and quits. At this rate 2 years from now I will get the air out.

You need to crank it manually the same as most cars by holding the key in position 3.

You can crank 30 secs, wait 10 secs and crank/wait for 3 cycles. You should then let the starter cool down 10 minutes before trying again.

Once it *seems* like it is catching keep cranking a couple secs longer to be certain it is running or you will start the process over.....

Nope, mine is smarter than that, Once it starts cranking I have no control. Holding in POs. 3 does nothing.

Brain fart on my part. She is running again.
Thanks

Yep.....before I got mine the dealer I purchased it from wouldn't send it cause they said the starter was malfunctioning....that it would continue cranking by itself. Had to explain to them that was normal....
