Extended Cranking???? I just redid the IP seals and new lines on my 99 300TD. How can I do an extended engine cranking?? Using the key lets it spin about 5 sec and quits. At this rate 2 years from now I will get the air out. |

You need to crank it manually the same as most cars by holding the key in position 3. You can crank 30 secs, wait 10 secs and crank/wait for 3 cycles. You should then let the starter cool down 10 minutes before trying again. Once it *seems* like it is catching keep cranking a couple secs longer to be certain it is running or you will start the process over..... |

Nope, mine is smarter than that, Once it starts cranking I have no control. Holding in POs. 3 does nothing. |

Brain fart on my part. She is running again. Thanks |

Yep.....before I got mine the dealer I purchased it from wouldn't send it cause they said the starter was malfunctioning....that it would continue cranking by itself. Had to explain to them that was normal.... |
