Leaving the Diesel World

I've put my '82 240D 4-Speed up for sale:

1982 240D 4-Speed for Sale - New Mexico

The reason for selling is shown in the pics below. Finally got one of my lifelong dream cars. I'm sure I will pick up another diesel at some point down the road. Going from 67 hp to this is quite a change!

If you used to own a Duc, an old Goat and a Vette, per your sig., you're obviously very familiar with the fun factor.

Congrats, you are running with the big dogs now. Enjoy, but stay out of trouble, man!

Maybe you'll come back to the W123 another day.

911 is also what I have dreamt of since I was a kid. Ferrari and Lamborghini are nice but the 911 has always been the one. Don't regret your decision, enjoy the car.

My 993GT3 was truly the best car I ever owned, and the only one I have ever missed once it left the garage. Of course, I walked away from a huge collision with an 18-wheeler thanks to that car, so it served its ultimate purpose on my behalf. Truly one of the world's greatest machines. Enjoy yours -- looks like a 964? What year/options?

Cheers, John

Twin turbos came out in '94 and will still probably run you 50k. Too rich for me.

I can only imagine what driving that 993GT3 must have been like. Mine is an '87 with the G-50 transmission. It has limited slip, H-4 lenses and turbo twist wheels. I can't get over just how fun it is to drive. It is truly a street legal race car.

another point of view

Four Porsches, two motorcycles, and a Viper yet 80% of my driving time is spent in my 84 300D smudgepot. It's comfortable, everything works properly, A/C cold enough to give you an ice cream headache, damn near invisible to cops, runs on WVO, easy to work on and maintain, parts are dirt cheap, insurance is cheap, and nobody wants to steal it

you didnt go down without a fight did you? noo noo not you wont take just any honda civic i want a porche! Great find man good luck we all know that you should have something fast after owning a diesel mercedes. its kind of like karma i sure know the feeling, im 17 and having a 1981 240d as your first car isnt exactly exhilarating. whatsoever. But a couple weeks ago i got a 1990 honda crx talk about fast... karma really does work. Have fun

Scott, dont fret, most of us ( the US) will be driving diesels in 15 years anyhow.

Cool ride.

Henry, Porsche makes 2X turbo diesel 911 over in Europe I am told. No slug either as you'd imagine from a 911.
