240D CV Boots

Hello, I have some cracks in the CV boots on my 83 240D. Ther are not all the way through yet, but I probably should change the boots soon. I am trying to decide of this is somthing I want to tackle myself or not. I have done quite a bit of work on this car so far, including replacement of the oil cooler lines and motor mounts. So I was looking to see if anyone had any wisdom to share - and maybe any special sockets or tools that may be needed? Thanks!

Go to www.dieselgiant.com. He has a good write up on replacing the rear axle boots. However, his write up begins after the axles have been removed from the car. Go get the Haynes manual for $20. It's also got a pretty good write up beginning from step 1.

You will need a boot tool. It can be air or manual.

Talk with Brian Carlton, I think he got one from eBay recently and intended to put it into the tool loan program here.
