Here is a good question i wanna know Read

How much horsepower does a 1983 or 1985 300d Turbo place out??? Very interested in knowing that.

Specs for a 1985 300 turbo diesel, Federal, this is from MB their-own-selves, 123 HP @ 4350 rpm; 184 foot pounds of torque @ 2400 rpm. Maximum no load engine speed 5200 rpm. Compression ratio 21.5:1.

yeah, but that 's at the crank. I think the question was what's the powa at the wheel... On another note, does any body has the Hp/Torque curve?

Not off hand but its pretty simple. Both Torque and HP pretty much top out at as soon as the turbo is spooled with HP sloping off.

OK>not much>very little; depending on the state of tune.:D

I think the torque curve you seek will have to come from someone other than MB, but I do have one. This is from the brochure produced by MB.

70-100hp, depending on the engine wear/tuning and drivetrain condition.

Here are my 3 dyno runs: 1+2, 3

What torque curve..? What Horse Power? These things can't get out of their own way, unless they have a good sized gas V-8 in them.
They're "classy" yes, but far from fast, and further from torquey.
I thought you all were into these things for other reasons.. I am, and will be the first to admit how much of a dog each of my 123 coupes is. My objective however, is to build yet another fast one. Last time, I built the small block Chevy powered on I have with six speed and all that. Now, however, it's time to build one in all Mercedes parts, with big V-8, 5-Speed, Possie rear-end, AMG body, and interior, and a host of other good features. My 280 CE Euro, is getting torn down, and started over with, post haste. The finished product, will be a masterpiece.

Afraid yours will show less than 50hp? ;)

truckinik 05-23-2007 02:06 AM

Everything else, will be in it's own way..

Well, 77, or even 120 hp, is only impressive on things like, Power Window Motors, Lawn Tractors, Go-Carts, Shopping-Carts, Motorcycles, and ATV's. Otherwise, everything else, is simply too heavy, and will be a in it's own way.....:singer:

Can you post that? I would like a factory torque curve for reference.

Okay, I'll have to go somewhere and copy, my home unit is not a flip top copier, then scan, and send. May not be able to post here, we'll see. Update, didn't get to it today, will try again tomorrow.

toomany MBZ 05-25-2007 02:18 PM

Scanner 3 and half years old, sometimes it works, usually does not. HP is willing to make a deal right now! I called them for help, they couldn't, but sir you need a new one! Right now!
