If you have the original fuse........there's a modification that allows you to put a 30A fuse in that position. Apparently the older vehicles just cannot stay below the limit of the factory fuse.

The kit consists of a shunt with a fuse holder. You attach the shunt to the fuse box terminal screws and leave out the original fuse. I'm sure that Phil has the part number at his fingertips.

Would it be possible to just put a higher amp fuse in the space without moving it?.....safely

Two points:

1. Sure, anything's possible

2. If it were safe, would they offer a kit? The fuse box wiring wasn't set up for the higher amps, the mod works well, and is not difficult to install

I believe the heat generated by the larger fuse will give you problems.

which fuse?

Make sure you are dealing with the right fuse that the kit was meant for.
#8 fuse powers the compressor relay and clutch, Monovalve, blower, aux pump, and part of the controls; while #14 powers other aspects of the control circuit.

It's #14 that keeps blowing, and when it does, I have full time max heat.......not good down here in Fl.

You've got a different problem other than what the kit was designed for. That circuit must have a ground fault somewhere............
