Thanks Matt, I am clear now on how the fan works. I will just clean the contacts on the plug tonight and if it does not run I will order an OEM one.

I bought the "fan motor" from this site. It's the OEM part for the left-side only, including the motor, left blade and pully; you use your old frame and right side, saving over $100. Be sure to get a new belt as well. It's under "Accessories" (IIRC) and called a "Poly-V belt." It's pretty cheap.

I can't recall any other tests right off, TMAllison.

problem found

To update this thread I found the problem. One of the A/C lines that are routed around the fan motor housing was rubbing against the fan as it was turing. Whoever put this back together last time did not slide the A/C line far enough away from the fan motor housing before bolting the A/C line mounts down. It actually put a indentation in the fan motor housing all the way around it from turning.
I removed the fan motor and shook the dirt out, replaced and moved the A/C lines out of the way before bolting down. Hooked it back up and ran for about a minute before it sounded like the bearings in the fan motor were grinding and it stopped. Restarted the car and it did the same thing. (car was hot about 100C)
I ordered a new unit tongiht. Hopefully the module is ok.

Thanks all for the very quick responses!

The hoses in front contain power steering fluid. Is this what you mean?

Since you get the pulsing, I'm guessing that your module is fine. Otherwise, I'd be asking what module you have. Mine costs about $800 to replace.

the aluminum lines in front are power stearing? Ok, well I did not follow the lines to actually see what the lead to. As you can see I do not know this engine yet, I have only had it for 3,000 miles. But with this club and my repair dvdrom from MB I am learning.

Wow $800 I am crossing my fingers it is just the fan motor.

I had the same problem with the left electric fan (facing car) and tried the whack-it-with-a-screwdriver handle trick and the fan now works. Someone left the AC charging valve cap off and it fell into the fan, jamming it. But until I whacked the fan, it wouldn't come on by itself.

Left electric fan (facing car) means an electric fan on the right side? 210's don't have that. The right side fan blade is driven by a belt from the motor, which is on the left.

AC Fans work sometimes??/

I hit the fan buttoms very quickly while at 7oMPH and all fans shut down.
I checke the fuses but they were all perfect...even #& for the fans.
I stopped the car...got back in started it up the fans worked perfectly.
Next day they don't work...today they do....YIPES.
What is wrong

Usually easier if you start your own post; especially if your problem is different.

This thread is about the radiator mounted Aux fans and you are having a problem with your interior fan blower correct?

Apply 12V to the fan motor to confirm it works. If it does, the problem is usually the fan regulator or the bush button control unit.

If intermitent, it may be the brushes. Mine does this, leaving the lower panel off I can reach up and turn the fan cage 1/2" and it will start up.

*edit* nevermind.....above post is cross posted to Tech forum where is listed as a 91 W124; not a W210.

No worries.

Click USER CP on the menu bar (above left) and then click EDIT SIGNATURE and add your year and model (see mine as an example) to your signature. Will then be present in every post thereafter.

Helps us help you.

Good luck.

Don't mean to butt in, but I found this page with a lot of useful information regarding the ac unit
