Fast question re:Tie Rods
when re-installing how do you keep the joints from spinning? im trying to tighten the bolts but the joint inside the tie rod just keeps spinning around

on the W123 tie rods they are adjusted by spinnging the middle peice which is left hand and right hand threaded... but to tighten on each end their is a collar that you tighten with a bolt and nut ....
might want to get an alignment soon since you have just screwed it up ^_^ |

Yea but im talking about when you are re-installing them. Like hooking it back up to the wheel and the other end to the middle rod. Basically the tie rod ends im trying to secure to the hub

Im not really following. I do know that the bolts have a 5mm allen socket thing on them so when you tighten them the bolt doesnt spin.. is that it?

what i have done in the past is place an opened end wrench between the nut and the arm where it seats, the wrench will take up the slack and allow you to tighten the nut and seat the joint in the mating surface so it will not spin, then loosen the nut, and retighten it.
