W116 manual and compression check
 

Hi all.

What is the best shop manual available for a 1980 300SD? And where to get it? The MB site only offers the original manual in electronic format. I'm curious what W116 300SD owners on this site use. I suppose I'll likely have to wait for eBay to present a used MB book...

Secondly, what tools are needed to do a compression test on a W116 300SD? I've got a compression tester I've used on gas-powered motors, but I've never done it on a diesel.

w116.org has the factory service manual on their website.

Harbor freight has a cheap diesel compression tester that many use that fits our diesels- I think they can be had for $20 on sale.
